Description

Babanango Valley Lodge, a small luxury upmarket Lodge, with nine bedrooms, providing high levels of service and hospitality while retaining the charm that one would expect of a small gracious country Lodge. Set in a beautiful indigenous garden, which attracts birds, a swimming pool and magnificent views down the valley. We accept children of all ages and have two family bedrooms.

Babanango Valley Private Nature Reserve is situated near the heart of Zululand, close to the birth place of King Shaka, founder of the Zulu Nation. Our location is ideal for exploring many of the most significant Zulu historical sites. We also offer our own Zulu Heritage experience touching on the traditional customs and culture as well as being able to visit a modern rural Zulu homestead.

It’s position on the transition between highveld and lowveld gives rise to a strikingly large and interesting diversity of fauna and flora. Already present are Impala, Mountain Reedbuck, Grey Duiker, Steenbuck, Reedbuck, Kudu and Bushbuck and to compliment these species, we have embarked on a game re-introduction programme - Zebra, Warthog and Red Hartebeest in the last 3 years and hopefully more over the next few years. 256 bird species have been recorded with 36 raptor species, a large proportion of which nest in the Nature Reserve including Black, Crowned, Wahlbergs, Tawny and African Hawk Eagles. We have also recorded 142 tree species and there is an incredible diversity of grasses and wildflowers.
