Sherwood s offers guests ultimate privacy and peace with only 6 bedrooms, which open onto tranquil gardens. Some have cosy fireplaces and spectacular views from your private verandah.

Two double bedrooms with en-suite shower or bath facility, TV with satellite viewing, tea and coffee facility, private entrance to the garden, laundry facility, non-smoking (smoking permitted on main verandah of guesthouse), hairdryer, clockradio, international plugs request at reception, free standing or ceiling fan, safe facility either in room or at reception, valet service to room on request, guest toiletries and towels, room service on request at reception, room size approximately 28 square metres.

Two spacious double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, bath and shower facility, fireplace, mini bar, private verandah with spectacular views over Agatha mountains, main entrance to rooms leading out onto the gardens, TV with satellite viewing, tea and coffee facility, laundry facility, non-smoking (smoking permitted on private and main verandahs), hairdryer, clockradio, international plugs request at reception, free standing or ceiling fan, safe facility either in room or at reception, valet service to room on request, guest toiletries and towels, electric shaving point in bathroom, room service on request at reception, room size approximately 60 square metres.

Attractions

There are several short scenic walks from the country house including:-

Birding enthusiasts will hopefully be able to see a large variety including Giant, Pied Pigmy Woodland & Malachite Kingfishers, Purple Crested Loerie, several types of Woodpecker, Sunbirds, Oriole and even Raptors including Giant Eagle Owl, Wood Owl, Martial Eagle, Black Eagle and several Kestrels and Hawks. Rare species, the Bathawk.

Small game in the area include Bushpig, Bushbuck, Porcupine, Meerkat, Civet, Spotted Genet, Vervet Monkeys, a rare sighting of two Samango Monkeys and perhaps you may hear the bark of Charma Baboon close by.

The Rooikat Hiking Trail is 1.5 km from Sherwood’s(Sherwood’s to New Agatha Forestry Station ).This 4 hour hike takes in both cultivated and indigenous forests in a mountain setting and ends on the bottom of the valley where you find a beautiful stretch of ‘Bob’s River’ with refreshing crystal clear water, large rock pools and waterfalls - the ideal backdrop for a packed picnic lunch (provided by Sherwood’s on request)and a lazy sunny afternoon spent swimming in prestine privacy.

If you prefer, you can take a scenic gravel surfaced drive along the same route .Why not drive down to the river and walk the river section of the trail? - directions from Sherwood’s. Another option, if you are feeling very energetic, why not mountain bike through the forestry - mountain bikes available at Sherwood’s.

Spend a day lazing and swimming at the pool, admiring the spectacular‘Wolkberg Mountains’ (Northern part of the Drakensberg Mountains).

Take tea in the gazebo or enjoy playing table games.

Something new and adventurous is quad biking. Day trips in and around our area are available by prior arrangement - bookings essential.
