| The Kruger National Park has an atmosphere I would never be able to describe and I enjoy every moment I am in that park, despite the many lodges and accommodation establishments, which bring thousands of people through each day. The Kruger National Park is one of South Africa’s jewels, operating as a tourist venue since 1926. The Kruger Park is located 350 kilometres between the Crocodile River in the south to the confluence of the Limpopo and Levuvhu rivers in the north. The Kruger National Park is home to numerous indigenous Africa bird, insect, reptile and mammal species, including what has become a tourist catch phrase, “the Big Five” lion – leopard – elephant – buffalo and rhinoceros. Visiting Kruger can be done year round with the winter months providing visitors easier game viewing because the grass is short, the trees leafless and the animals tend to congregate around waterholes. However, the summer months offer a time of regeneration, when there are many newborn antelope and other plains game such as zebra, giraffe and wildebeest as well as hippo and more than 500 species of birds. The spring provides green trees and shrubs and many flowers and the rivers are full. Lodges in the Kruger National Park Lodges bordering the Kruger Park and nearby |
